A snowy morning led to multiple vehicle crashes on Interstate 40 in Flagstaff, Arizona, on November 6th.
What happened: Around 5:45 a.m., about eight vehicles, including several semi trucks, got into accidents. The icy roads near the I-17 junction were a major factor.
- Both directions of the highway were blocked.
- Traffic jammed up from central Flagstaff to its west side.
- Reports noted about half an inch of ice on the roads at the time.
Impact: The eastbound side of the highway was closed for around three hours due to the crashes. The westbound lanes were also impacted.
Despite the bad conditions, authorities managed to clear the road and reopen I-40 later in the day, reported AZ Family.
Warning: Authorities emphasize avoiding blocking emergency lanes during such incidents, to assist quicker response times.
Thankfully, there were no reports of injuries in these pile-ups. Drivers were urged to drive with caution as weather conditions continue to fluctuate.
