A truck driver was arrested at the border in Buffalo, New York, on August 13, 2025, after officials found about 240 pounds of cocaine inside his trailer.
The details: Vishavpal Singh, 31, an Indian citizen living in Canada, was stopped for an outbound inspection at the Peace Bridge Port of Entry.
- Homeland Security Investigations and Customs and Border Protection searched Singh’s truck and found boxes filled with 109 kilograms (around 240 pounds) of cocaine.
- The drugs were hidden inside a shipment of fabric softener, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
- Investigators say Singh may be tied to another large cocaine seizure in Detroit, Michigan, just a month before.
The charges: Singh faces charges of possessing cocaine with intent to distribute. If convicted, he could get at least 10 years in prison — or up to life — and a fine of up to $10 million.
He made his first court appearance and will remain in custody until his detention hearing on August 19, 2025.
