On Wednesday, October 15, a grand jury in Limestone County, Alabama, indicted truck driver John McAdams for a string of crashes that happened back in May 2025.
The details: Authorities say McAdams drove his commercial truck for 27 miles along I-65, causing at least eight crashes. One of the wrecks sadly took the life of 22-year-old William Hardick, who played football for Austin Peay.
- McAdams reportedly admitted to drinking "an unknown amount of tequila" before getting behind the wheel.
- His blood alcohol content was measured at 0.15 after the crash, almost twice the legal limit for commercial drivers.
- The truck kept moving down the interstate until it finally came to a stop, and officers found signs that McAdams was impaired.
The charges: McAdams faces a murder charge, six counts of leaving the scene, trafficking synthetic drugs, and a combined DUI. He is being held at the Limestone County Jail with no bond, according to WAFF.
Hardick's family filed a civil lawsuit against both McAdams and his trucking company within days of the fatal crash. There is no scheduled trial date yet for McAdams, and he will remain in jail while he waits for further court action.
