More than $15 million worth of meth was found hidden in a load of carrots at the Pharr International Bridge in Texas on July 10, 2025.
What happened: A commercial truck coming up from Mexico was stopped for additional inspection at the cargo facility. Officers used both scanning technology and a K9 unit to check the load.
- After digging deeper, CBP found 311 packages of meth stashed inside the trailer.
- The total weight of the drugs hit over 1,700 pounds.
- The truck and all the drugs were seized right away.
- A criminal investigation is now underway by Homeland Security agents.
Big picture: This is the second time in less than a week that such a large haul of meth has been intercepted at this bridge.
Port Director Carlos Rodriguez said these drug busts show "the effectiveness of officer experience, inspection techniques, and technology to prevent these loads from moving further north and poisoning our communities."
The latest bust had an estimated street value of nearly $15.7 million, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
