Box truck shot at by semi driver in I-95 road rage

On Tuesday, September 23rd, a road rage situation on I-95 northbound near Yulee, Florida ended with shots fired at a box truck by the driver of a semi.

What happened: Around 5 p.m., a semi truck pulled up beside a box truck, and the semi driver fired at least one shot. The gunfire hit the passenger side of the box truck but missed the other driver.

  • The box truck driver swerved onto the shoulder to get away and called for help.
  • The semi kept on heading north up I-95 as the situation unfolded.

The response: Florida Highway Patrol and other officers shut down I-95 northbound for about two hours as they worked the scene and chased leads.

  • Witnesses gave police a description of the rig, which helped them reach out to the trucking company for more details.
  • Officers, with help from the company, tracked the semi up into Georgia, where the driver was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to News4Jax.

No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing, and Florida Highway Patrol is asking anyone with info to call 904-301-3700.
