Canadian police nabbed a second person involved in a scheme to steal cargo worth over $5 million.
The scheme: The suspects, operating under the name All Days Trucking, duped victims into hiring them for freight transportation.
- The suspects used a third-party platform to find their targets, offering services at a cut-rate.
- They assigned other trucking companies, some allegedly part of the scam, to pick up the freight, maintaining contact until the goods were supposed to be delivered, then cutting communication.
The arrests: Manjinder Singh Bura was first arrested on February 19 and charged with multiple counts of theft and fraud. Police executed search warrants and retrieved stolen trailers and cargo estimated at $1.5 million.
- On April 3, a second suspect, Sukhdeep Singh Brar, was arrested, facing numerous charges including theft, fraud, and possession of stolen goods.
Investigation ongoing: Each suspect is held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.
Authorities anticipate more charges as they dig deeper into this case, which involves other companies like Velocity Logistics Inc. and Torque Logistics Inc, according to Peel Regional Police.
