Car crashes into semi truck near Modesto, driver impaled

Early Tuesday morning, August 19, a serious crash happened on South 9th Street near Modesto, California.

What happened: A car slammed into the back of a semi truck. After the impact, the car veered off and struck a chain link fence. The fence pierced through the car, leaving the driver impaled on a post.

  • The truck driver was not at fault and did not report injuries.
  • First responders arrived quickly and found the car driver had freed himself from the fence before help got there.
  • Firefighters treated the man at the scene, and then he was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The man's official condition hasn't been released yet, but someone saying they are his cousin shared that he had surgery and is expected to recover, according to FOX40.
