On June 30, 2025, federal drug agents seized more than 700 pounds of meth hidden inside a semi trailer at a warehouse in Gainesville, Georgia.
The bust: DEA agents found the drugs packed in boxes of cucumbers stacked on pallets. Two men, Andres Jasso, Jr. of Georgia and Rufino Pineda-Perez of Mexico, were at the scene and arrested.
- Jasso and Pineda-Perez were allegedly supposed to unload the drugs from the truck and separate them from the produce.
- After the search, both men were charged with intent to distribute meth. Pineda-Perez also faces charges for being in the country illegally, with a criminal record that includes previous drug convictions and two deportations.
- Pineda-Perez had been caught before by federal agents transporting cocaine and was deported most recently in 2015, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
The DEA, along with state police and immigration agencies, is investigating the case. The truck's cargo never made it to city streets, and both men are now waiting for their day in court.
