Dump truck rollover leads to driver losing job and license

A dump truck driver in British Columbia is out of a job and lost his license after rolling his truck and failing a breath test. The incident happened at 2:30 p.m. on September 4, 2025, along the Lougheed Highway near Deroche, BC.

The incident: The 44-year-old driver from Abbotsford crashed a dump truck in a single-vehicle rollover. He was checked at the scene and was not seriously hurt.

  • Police say the driver failed a roadside breathalyzer test for alcohol.
  • While officers were investigating, the driver’s supervisor showed up and fired him on the spot.

The consequences:

  • 90-day driving ban and his BC license taken away
  • Ticketed $368 for careless driving and $230 for open liquor in the truck
  • Dump truck impounded for 30 days

BC Highway Patrol said most truck drivers work hard and never have issues with law enforcement. There were no injuries to others in this crash.
