Plans are moving forward for a new electric semi truck charging corridor along I-10 between Southern California and Phoenix. This is the second time a more than 200-mile stretch dedicated to electric semi charging has been announced for a major highway in the region.
The details: The project was made official on August 12. It's a partnership between Greenlane and Windrose Technology, a company that builds heavy-duty electric trucks.
- The charging corridor will run about 250 miles along I-10 from Southern California to the Phoenix area.
- Stations are planned in Blythe, California and around Phoenix.
- This follows Greenlane's first electric corridor, which is on I-15 between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
Patrick Macdonald-King, CEO of Greenlane, said the route was picked to help the carriers and shippers who keep freight moving every day.
He added that Windrose trucks have already shown strong performance using their charging network, so they're confident the I-10 stations will hold up to tough jobs.
