Emergency crews respond to multi-vehicle crash involving tractor-trailers on I-77

An eight-vehicle collision on Interstate 77 in Carroll County resulted in two people being hospitalized on Thursday afternoon.

The crash: Occurred just before 3 p.m. on April 11 at mile marker 14.6, involving five tractor-trailers, a box truck, and two passenger vehicles.

  • Substantial vehicular damage and multiple fuel leaks were reported at the crash site.

Response: A coordinated effort by Virginia State Police, Carroll County deputies, and various emergency crews helped manage the scene and assist injured parties.

The current condition of the hospitalized individuals has not been disclosed, and authorities are still investigating the cause of the pile-up, as reported WFXR.

Due to the accident, travelers were advised by the Hillsville Fire Department to expect delays and to seek alternative routes on that Thursday afternoon.
