Fake trucking companies steal millions in California cargo scheme

On October 9, 2025, law enforcement in California arrested twelve people following a long-running investigation into cargo theft using fake trucking companies.

The scheme: The accused, tied to what police call the "Singh Organization," allegedly created or took over legitimate-looking trucking companies between March 2021 and June 2025. They would then win real shipping contracts but steal the loads instead of delivering them.

  • The stolen goods included electronics, appliances, and other high-dollar items.
  • Stolen cargo was taken to black market channels, with total losses reaching into the millions.
  • Multiple thefts happened in San Bernardino County and elsewhere in California.

Those named: Suspects range in age from 26 to 42 and are mainly from the Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, Bakersfield, Sacramento, and even one from Washington state.

The investigation: The case was handled by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, with help from the FBI, Riverside County Sheriff, Los Angeles County Sheriff, local police, CHP-CTIP, and others, according to Nixle.

All twelve suspects now face federal charges, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud and theft from interstate shipments. The case remains open for further prosecution.
