A tense situation unfolded early Tuesday morning, April 29th, near an Amazon facility in Kentucky when police confronted a man in a stolen semi-truck. The incident started at 7 a.m. on Industrial Road in Florence, leading to a fatal shooting, as reported by Kentucky State Police (KSP).

What happened: Officers from Boone County Sheriff’s Office and Florence Police Department tried to stop Michael Simpson, 35, driving the stolen truck. Simpson, from Ohio, got out but didn't follow police commands.

Simpson reportedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at his head, moving towards an industrial park, according to KSP.
Two deputies fired their weapons during the confrontation, and Simpson was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Additional impact: A Florence police officer received minor injuries during the altercation.
