Fires at Canadian weigh stations under investigation after arson suspected

Late on Saturday, July 19, 2025, a fire broke out at the weigh station on Highway 97 North near Prince George, British Columbia. Crews arrived to find the Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) office in flames.

What police found: After checking the scene, officers say there's evidence that someone set the fire on purpose.

  • Police think this fire is tied to another one that happened on December 24, 2024, at the Highway 97 South weigh scales.
  • Both locations had orange spray-painted graffiti nearby reading, "good job McCreadie."
  • No one has reported injuries from either incident.

Next steps: The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are looking for dash cam footage from anyone who drove by and may have caught people or vehicles leaving the area before the fire was found, according to the RCMP.

The investigation is still ongoing.
