Florida deputies bust group using device to steal diesel

Three men were arrested late on September 22, 2025, after deputies in Charlotte County, Florida, caught them in the act of stealing diesel fuel at a gas station in Punta Gorda.

How it happened: Deputies were tipped off about suspicious semi trucks in the area and set up near a RaceTrac station. There, they watched as the suspects used a special device called a Pulsar to mess with the pumps, causing them to charge much less than the actual amount of fuel taken.

  • The stolen fuel was pumped into hidden "bladder" tanks, which were built to hold extra diesel and not connected to the truck’s regular fuel system.
  • Hundreds of gallons were stolen in just one night.
  • The men arrested were Livan Andrade, Cristian Urquiza Valdes, and Noel Lopez Carrasco.

What’s next: At this time, Andrade and Carrasco have bonded out, while Valdes remains behind bars due to another warrant in a different county, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies are coordinating with other agencies in Florida, and the group could face more charges as the investigation continues.
