A former Amazon transportation manager from Arizona is facing charges for a scheme to boost trucking invoices and pocket more than $1.5 million.
What happened: Prosecutors say Abdullah Alwan, once a Transportation Area Manager at Amazon, used his work laptop to increase shipping rates for Blue Line Transport, a third-party carrier. The company then sent Amazon inflated invoices that got paid out.
- Alwan worked for Amazon from 2016 until he left in November 2021.
- Investigators say he didn't give back his Amazon laptop when he quit.
- Between late 2021 and May 2022, he allegedly accessed Amazon's freight system to change rates and help the scheme along.
The payout: Authorities say Alwan received around $1.5 million for making the fraudulent changes.
The legal side: Alwan was charged with wire fraud in the U.S. District Court for Arizona. He has agreed to enter a guilty plea as of July 22, 2025.
The case details Alwan’s alleged use of company technology after his resignation to assist in the scam, with documents showing his intent to defraud the company for personal gain.
