Homeless man hijacks idling truck from hotel lot

A truck driver experienced an unexpected situation last month when a homeless man drove off with a bobtail truck left idling in a Pennsylvania hotel parking lot.

Details: The incident took place on December 6th at Rodeway Inn Hotel in Brookville Borough.

The driver had left the truck running to warm up and briefly went back inside the hotel.
The 36-year-old man, Colin Standefer, allegedly seized the opportunity to steal the rig and headed towards Interstate 80.

The response: Police were able to track the vehicle using a dash cam.

The Pennsylvania State Police conducted a stop and arrested Standefer on I-80.
He did not possess a valid CDL and had a suspended license due to a DUI in Indiana.

What's next: Standefer is now in jail with a $50,000 bail and faces several charges, including felony theft.

This incident underlines the importance of being vigilant, but no one was harmed in the event.
