The hunt for a suspect in a brutal attack on a truck driver at a rest stop near San Simon, Arizona, has gone global.
The update: Deputies identified 41-year-old Azizbek Akhadov of Pennsylvania after digging through hours of truck logs and camera footage from the rest area. They've now issued an arrest warrant for attempted murder.
- The victim, called "Jack," has been in a coma since the February assault and suffered major brain trauma. He's now hospitalized in Georgia.
- Authorities say Akhadov is believed to have fled the country to Uzbekistan. The Cochise County Sheriff's Office is working with Interpol to try and track him down.
- The warrant comes with a $500,000 bond. Detectives spent months narrowing down thousands of trucks on I-10 to one vehicle and, finally, a driver.
Sheriff Mark Dannels called it "incredible work" and said, "We are going to do everything we can to bring justice to the family, bring justice to our victim in this case and get him back here to hold him accountable for his actions," according to KVOA News.
The victim's wife continues to stay by his side, hoping for answers as the international investigation moves forward.
