Load cover from passing truck kills driver on route 460

A truck driver lost his life in Sussex County, Virginia, after a crash on Thursday, July 10th. The wreck happened around 3 p.m. on Route 460.

What happened: Virginia State Police say a semi was heading west on Route 460 carrying car parts when a load cover from a passing eastbound truck flew off and smashed into the windshield.

The load cover, described as a metal-framed tarp, struck the driver’s side of the cab.
The impact knocked the driver unconscious, causing the truck to leave the road, cross into oncoming lanes, and crash into several trees.
The driver, identified as 64-year-old Keith Michael Loback, died at the scene.

Virginia State Police found the driver of the other truck involved later that evening. A criminal investigation is now underway, reported WRIC.

No other injuries were reported from the crash. The investigation by law enforcement is ongoing.
