Michigan State Police cite unqualified limo bus driver after rollover

On the evening of October 30, a limo bus rolled over on southbound I-75 in Frenchtown Township, Michigan, sending 11 people to the hospital.

The details: The crash happened around 5:45 p.m. near mile marker 16. For reasons not yet clear, the limo bus left the road and flipped several times. Multiple passengers were thrown from the vehicle.

  • Eight people had minor injuries.
  • Two had serious injuries.
  • One passenger was critically hurt.
  • The 69-year-old Detroit driver said he could not remember the crash.

What police found: Michigan State Police investigators said the bus driver did not have the right CDL for the vehicle. He also lacked a valid DOT medical card, and the limo company itself had no operating authority for carrying passengers.

  • The driver was cited for not having the right CDL, driving without a medical card, and careless driving.
  • No signs of drugs or alcohol were found as factors in the crash.

The joint investigation is ongoing by state and county agencies. If you saw the crash, Michigan State Police are asking for information, according to Michigan State Police First District.
