Prairie Band, LLC broke ground Monday, September 30th, on a new truck stop and travel plaza off US Highway 75 and 150th Road in Jackson County, Kansas.
The details: The 12,000-square-foot facility will give truckers and travelers:
- Ample truck parking, with amenities built for long-haul drivers
- Multiple diesel and gas pumps, plus EV charging stations
- A convenience store, quick-service food options, showers, and clean restrooms
Looking ahead: Prairie Band, LLC expects about 13,000 vehicles daily—including around 1,700 commercial trucks—once the truck stop opens in early 2027. The plaza's location is close to the Prairie Band Casino & Resort, bringing extra activity and business to the site, according to WIBW.
The big picture: This project is part of a larger plan to grow the region’s economy and boost local jobs. Prairie Band, LLC says the travel plaza will create 30 permanent jobs and bring new revenue to the local community and Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
Construction is set to finish in the first quarter of 2027.
