New San Antonio truck parking rules spark driver concerns

Starting on April 19, San Antonio will implement new parking restrictions for semi-trucks based on resident complaints made through the 311 system.

The changes: The adjusted ordinance targets specific roads where parking signs will be put up to prohibit semis from parking legally. While warnings will be issued through June 18, violators after that date will face a $500 fine, reported KSAT News.

  • Streets affected include Bluffdale Drive, Gardendale Road, and Parkdale Street, among others.
  • The rule applies to truck-tractors and semitrailers as per Texas law.

The goal: Intended to reduce congestion and protect infrastructure, the city believes this will help maintain safer and more accessible neighborhoods.

However, despite requests from Councilwoman Adriana Rocha Garcia to investigate alternative solutions, such as additional truck parking, the city did not pursue those options.
