Arizona state troopers held a big commercial vehicle inspection push along I-10 near San Simon and Bowie on October 28, 2025. A team of just one sergeant and five troopers took part.
The numbers:
- 23 commercial vehicles inspected (20 Level II, 3 Level III)
- 98 violations found across those checks
- 8 drivers put out of service
- 5 trucks placed out of service
- 16 citations handed out
- 1 passenger vehicle inspected
What happened: According to Arizona DPS, their officers also talked with the San Simon Fire Chief, who told them about a recent scary moment: a truck ignored cones at a crash site, but luckily nobody got hurt.
These enforcement details are nothing new for truckers running I-10. Many in the industry feel inspections like this are more about writing tickets than actually helping with highway safety.
The Arizona DPS says the goal was to find safety issues and keep the roads safer. No injuries were reported during the operation itself.
