Pennsylvania man jailed after fire police traffic dispute

A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to state prison after an altercation involving a fire police lieutenant and a semi truck last year.

The details: Craig Robert Godfrey, 65, will serve 33 to 66 months after being convicted of aggravated assault and endangering another person.

  • The incident took place on June 3, 2023, in Caernarvon Township, where Godfrey disregarded traffic directions during a barn fire.
  • Lt. Timothy Cunningham was attempting to redirect traffic when Godfrey used his truck to threaten him, reported the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office.

The reaction: In court, Godfrey criticized Cunningham's actions, calling them "negligent." However, Judge Reinaker emphasized that it is not an option to ignore directions from fire police.
