Semi crash on I-35 causes diesel spill and delays

A traffic incident involving a semi truck on Friday led to a challenging situation on Interstate 35, near Goldsby, Oklahoma.

What happened: The semi truck hit the median, causing diesel to spill and significant traffic disruption. As a result, the southbound lanes were closed for several hours.

  • Authorities had to divert traffic via the State Highway 9W ramp to clear the wreckage.
  • A hazardous materials team was called to manage the diesel spill.

Incident details: A Lighthorse Police Department officer was involved in an accident while managing traffic around the crash. He fell off the overpass, falling 6-8 feet but fortunately sustained only minor injuries.

Traffic impact: The incident resulted in massive backups reaching as far as Lindsey Street in Norman, according to KOCO News.

The latest: As of late morning, the southbound lanes have reopened, easing the traffic congestion that built up during the hours the highway was closed.
