A semi truck collided with a parked train early Thursday, October 2, just west of Grand Island, Nebraska.
What happened: The crash took place around 5:30 a.m. on Husker Highway, west of South 60th Road. The train, a Union Pacific, was sitting still on the tracks when the semi hit it.
- Two empty train cars jumped off the rails after the impact.
- There were no warning lights or crossing signals at that crossing.
- The train crew was not hurt, but the truck driver had minor injuries.
- The semi’s cab was destroyed in the wreck.
Aftermath: Crews shut down Husker Highway near the tracks while they cleaned up debris and got the cars back on the rails, according to KSNB Local4.
Officials have not said if any tickets were given out.
