Semi rolls into pond at Love’s after brake forgotten

On Tuesday morning, October 21, a semi rolled into a retention pond at the Love’s Travel Stop near I-94 and Wadhams Rd. in St. Clair County, Michigan.

How it happened: Police say the rig was parked, but the driver forgot to set the parking brake. With no brake on, the semi rolled through a fence and ended up with its front end in the water.

  • The driver was not inside the truck when it moved.
  • No one was hurt and no one was trapped inside.
  • It took about five hours to get the truck out of the pond.

Fire crews and the sheriff’s office responded to the scene. The situation drew attention as first responders worked to recover the truck, reported WXYZ Detroit.
