Semi truck crashes at George Washington Bridge toll plaza

A semi truck crashed into the toll plaza at the George Washington Bridge on Monday morning.

What's happening: The truck was entering the bridge from Fort Lee, New Jersey when it hit the toll booths, spilling its load of construction materials.

  • The truck continued onto the bridge’s upper level, where Port Authority police eventually stopped it.
  • To clear the bridge, police had to back the truck off and redirect it to local streets.

Traffic impact: The incident caused delays of up to 90 minutes during the morning commute. Crews worked to clear the debris and reopen the roadway, reported ABC 7 News.

The bridge has since been reopened, but commuters should expect residual delays.
