Semi truck crashes at George Washington Bridge toll plaza

A semi truck crashed into the toll plaza at the George Washington Bridge on Monday morning.

What's happening: The truck was entering the bridge from Fort Lee, New Jersey when it hit the toll booths, spilling its load of construction materials.

The truck continued onto the bridge’s upper level, where Port Authority police eventually stopped it.
To clear the bridge, police had to back the truck off and redirect it to local streets.

Traffic impact: The incident caused delays of up to 90 minutes during the morning commute. Crews worked to clear the debris and reopen the roadway, reported ABC 7 News.

The bridge has since been reopened, but commuters should expect residual delays.
