Early Monday morning, a semi truck hauling wooden sheets hit a stopped school bus as kids were about to get on in Hamblen County, Tennessee.
The details: The accident happened on U.S. 25E right outside an apartment complex. The bus was making its first stop and had its stop sign out with flashing lights, waiting for the first student to board.
- Witnesses say the truck never slowed down and struck the bus from behind.
- No children were onboard yet—one child had his shoe knocked off as he was about to climb in.
- The bus driver, Sharla Conklin, was taken to the ER for whiplash. The truck driver, Brandon J. McCrary, suffered minor injuries and was also hospitalized.
Charges: McCrary faces charges for reckless driving, not using due care, and passing a stopped school bus.
"Thank God it was my first stop and there were no kids on the bus," Conklin shared, after the crash.
Thankfully, all the children and both drivers survived the crash, reported Citizen Tribune.
