Semi truck dangles on rocky cliff after highway crash

Crews in Big Horn County, Wyoming, are working to recover a semi truck that crashed early Tuesday morning, July 22, along US Highway 14A near the Sheridan County line.

The crash: The semi went off the road and ended up partially down a steep rocky slope. Photos from the scene show the truck balancing on a cliff.

  • The accident was reported by the sheriff’s office just after 7:30 a.m.
  • The driver suffered only minor injuries and was able to get out of the truck on his own, according to local officials.
  • The cause of the crash is still being investigated.

Highway closure: US Highway 14A in the area is closed for most of the day while towing teams handle the difficult recovery.

  • The Wyoming Department of Transportation expects the road to reopen between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night.
  • The sheriff’s office asked drivers to avoid the area and give space to the recovery crews.
