Semi truck stuck on park road leads to overnight closure

A semi truck ended up stuck on Snake Creek Road inside Great Basin National Park in Nevada late on May 20th, closing down the roadway overnight.

The details: The truck wound up about a mile from the road's dead end, on a narrow and winding dirt stretch not meant for big rigs. Crews worked through the night to get the truck out, taking care not to damage the road or the natural surroundings.

  • Park officials reminded drivers that the park's roads aren’t built for commercial trucks and all routes dead-end within the park.
  • It's not clear how the driver got into the situation or if any tickets were given out.

The road was back open by May 21st, and no injuries were reported from the incident.
