Steel coil slams into cab after truck equipment issues found

On October 4, 2024, police in the Toronto area said a steel coil crashed forward into a truck cab after it was not tied down properly.

The details: Ontario Provincial Police checked out the truck and found several bald tires, exposed metal cords, and a major crack in the trailer's frame.

No one was hurt in the accident.
The inspection also found the driver’s pre-trip checklist said there were no problems with the truck.
Both the driver and the trucking company were fined and cited for these safety issues.

Authorities said the charges were handed out after the inspection uncovered the problems with the equipment.
