Stolen semi-truck traced by Red Bull can fingerprint

A stolen Freightliner semi and Wabash trailer in Laredo, Texas was traced and found abandoned in June 2024 after the owner used a GPS device to locate it.

How it happened: Security footage from the truck yard showed two men taking the rig around midnight. When police searched the cab, they found a discarded Red Bull can.

  • Forensic teams lifted fingerprints from the can.
  • The prints matched 28-year-old Gerardo Velasquez.

Laredo police issued a felony theft warrant, and Velasquez was arrested October 23, 2025. He was booked into Webb County Jail three days later and later released on a $40,000 bond, according to Laredo Morning Times.
