Tow truck driver dies in Illinois holiday crash tragedy

On Christmas Eve, a tragic accident occurred in Kankakee County, Illinois, leaving a tow truck driver dead and his teen son injured.

The crash: The accident took place around 7 a.m. on December 24, near Grant Park.

  • Two commercial vehicles collided head-on at Illinois Route 17 and Bull Creek Road.
  • Reports say one of the drivers lost control, leading to the collision.

The driver, operating a heavy wrecker for Ray & Wally's Towing, died at the scene. His 15-year-old son was seriously injured and airlifted to a hospital.

Ray & Wally’s Towing released a statement: "This is a sad time for our team and the families involved. We ask you to pray for the healing of his son and to bring his family some comfort in this tragic loss."

The investigation: Illinois State Police are looking into what caused the crash.

The road was briefly closed to traffic as emergency teams worked at the scene. The public awaits further findings from the ongoing investigation.
