Tractor-trailer crash on I-285 delays traffic in Georgia

Traffic was backed up on Wednesday morning after a tractor-trailer crashed into police cruisers on I-285 in Fulton County, Georgia.

The incident: Around 4:50 a.m., police officers were helping with a stalled vehicle near Camp Creek Parkway when the semi struck three patrol cars, reported by Atlanta News First.

Two officers standing outside their vehicle were thrown by their patrol car, while another inside the vehicle was hit on the driver's side.
Emergency responders took the injured officers to a hospital; injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

The cause: The truck driver was cited for speeding, misusing lanes, and violating the Move Over law.

Impact on traffic: The crash shut down all southbound lanes, though one lane reopened by mid-morning.

The full reopening of the interstate helped ease the congestion caused by the morning's events.
