Tragic pileup on I-80 involving multiple semis and cars

A serious accident forced the closure of I-80 in Wyoming on Friday, February 14, following a multi-vehicle pileup near Green River.

The situation: The crash occurred around 11:37 a.m. at mile marker 90.2 and involved multiple passenger vehicles and semi trucks, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Tragically, there have been multiple fatalities reported.

Emergency services are dealing with an active fire and an explosion threat in the area.
I-80 is closed in both directions between Rock Springs and Green River.
Westbound traffic is being redirected to exit 91, while eastbound traffic is diverted to exit 89.

The warning: Authorities have cautioned drivers against using alternative routes due to hazardous conditions and ongoing emergency operations.

Currently, there is no estimated time for when the interstate will reopen.
