Trailer hauling mulch collapses at Kernersville intersection, spills load

A tractor trailer carrying mulch fell apart while moving through an intersection in Kernersville, North Carolina on Monday evening, July 21.

What happened: As the rig was crossing the intersection at South Main Street and Masten Drive, dash cam footage shows the trailer caving in on itself. The trailer’s sides came loose and the floor buckled, spilling mulch all over the roadway.

  • Video from a passing motorist shows the trailer did not have a roof, which made the collapse even more dramatic.
  • Mulch completely covered the intersection, and crews had to work to clean up the roadway before traffic could move through.
  • Photos of the aftermath were shared by Kernersville Police, but there has been no public information about any injuries.

It’s not clear what, if any, citations the truck driver may have received, reported WXII 12 News.
