Train hits semi truck stuck on Georgia tracks

A semi truck crossing the tracks in Dalton, Georgia, was hit by a train on October 2.

The details: The incident happened early at around 7:00 a.m. when the truck, driven by a Texas-based driver not familiar with the area, got stuck crossing the tracks.

  • The trucker told police he missed a sign about the steep approach to the tracks on Hawthorne Street, which can block large trucks.
  • Luckily, the driver got out of the cab before the train hit it, but the trailer was destroyed.

Citation: The Dalton Police cited the driver for failing to obey traffic signs.

Good news: No one was hurt in the incident.
