Trooper has close call after semi sideswipes stopped vehicle

On August 8, 2025, in Jackson County, Ohio, a state trooper had a close call during a traffic stop on U.S. 35 when a semi truck crashed into the stopped vehicle and nearly hit the officer.

What happened: The trooper was outside his cruiser when the semi sideswiped the vehicle already pulled over, missing the trooper by only a small margin. The incident was caught on both dash cam and body cam video.

  • No injuries were reported for the trooper, driver, or the trucker involved.
  • The Ohio State Highway Patrol later shared the video with the public.

According to the Patrol, the crash shows how quick things can turn dangerous when stopped vehicles are on the side of the road with emergency lights flashing.

Thankfully, everyone walked away without being hurt in the incident.
