Trooper injured in crash with semi on I-10

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was injured after colliding with a semi truck on Saturday night, December 14, in Hudspeth County, Texas.

The accident: The incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on Interstate 10 near mile marker 95. A semi truck hauling a low-bed trailer tried to make a U-turn at a center median crossover, which led to the trailer getting stuck and blocking both lanes of westbound I-10.

  • The oncoming trooper, unable to avoid the obstruction, struck the trailer.
  • Despite the severity of the crash, the trooper was taken to a nearby hospital and remains in stable condition.

Ongoing investigation: Authorities are still looking into the details of the crash to establish causation and potential responsible parties.

This incident underscores the unpredictable challenges on the road for truckers, where quick decisions can have significant impacts, reported KVIA News.

The blocked lanes were eventually cleared, and traffic continued smoothly. Thankfully, no additional injuries were reported.
