The Idaho State Police ran a statewide push this summer to inspect commercial vehicles and check for problems on big trucks.
By the numbers: From May through August, troopers did over 2,100 inspections on semis and other commercial rigs.
- 167 drivers were placed out of service due to safety or compliance issues.
- 453 vehicles were also taken off the road for violations.
What drove the inspections: These checks weren’t random—troopers focused where crash data and trends showed more problems. They joined in on big national safety efforts, like International Roadcheck, Brake Safety Week, and Operation Safe Driver.
The campaign wrapped up at the end of August, with officials sharing results on October 15, 2025.
