Truck driver’s attempted theft at Florida truck stop

A truck driver found himself in a bind at a Love’s Travel Stop in Davenport, Florida on December 5th.

The incident: Authorities say the driver, Oscateris Echavarria, attempted to leave the store with a 50-foot air hose and engine oil without paying.

  • Echavarria had bought a meal and shower just before the attempt.
  • When confronted, he initially denied the theft and even his occupation as a truck driver.

What happened next: Presented with evidence, he confessed to stealing the items. The stolen goods were returned, and Echavarria was arrested.

The big picture: He now faces charges of retail theft and is held in the Polk County jail.

No reported injuries were involved in the incident, and the case continues to highlight the need for vigilance against theft attempts at truck stops.
