Truck driver detained after wrong-way run on I-55 bridge

On the morning of Tuesday, August 27, a truck driver was stopped by police while driving the wrong way on the I-55 Memphis-Arkansas Bridge.

What happened: The truck was heading west in the eastbound lanes, causing other vehicles to swerve out of the way. Video taken at the scene shows the driver ignoring police commands to exit the cab.

  • An Arkansas State Trooper approached from the passenger side, then switched to the driver's side to make contact.
  • The driver refused to get out, so several officers pulled him from the cab and handcuffed him on the ground.

The truck driver was then taken into custody. No information has been released about why the driver was going the wrong way or any possible charges, according to WREG.
