Truck driver faces bee chaos after flat tire on I-95

A trucker had an unexpected challenge on Interstate 95 in Gaston, North Carolina, on Friday, May 16th. While hauling honeybees, a flat tire turned into quite the task.

What happened: The driver, transporting 130 pallets of bee hives, found himself in a sticky situation when the bees became restless in the rising heat while he attempted a tire change.

  • The temperature was around 80 degrees, making the bees agitated inside the trailer.
  • To calm the bees, the driver called on the Gaston Fire and Rescue team for help.

Rescue effort: Firefighters used water in a fine mist to cool down the hives, calming the bees enough for the trucker to safely change the tire.

No injuries occurred during the incident, and the bees were able to continue their journey up I-95 to New York, reported CBS 17.

The bottom line: With some quick thinking, everyone involved, including the bees, safely moved along without further incident.
