Truck driver faces charges after Cheat Lake accident in snowstorm

A truck driver from California is being extradited to West Virginia after a tragic accident earlier this year on Cheat Lake.

The incident: On January 19th, during a severe snowstorm, Sukhjinder Singh allegedly caused a car to crash into Cheat Lake, resulting in the death of motorist Kevin Lataille.

  • Investigators discovered through surveillance that Singh's truck hit Lataille’s car, which led to it falling into the lake.
  • Singh denied any wrongdoing, despite reported evidence of reckless driving.

Legal proceedings: Singh refused voluntary extradition to West Virginia and awaited a governor’s warrant, which was finally issued on April 30th according to WDTV.

Authorities in West Virginia will proceed with charges against Singh once he arrives. The investigation highlighted the challenges drivers face during hazardous weather.
