Truck driver hits jackpot, plans to buy family home

Jonathan Hodge, a truck driver from Luverne, Alabama, struck gold after buying a Cash 5 ticket in North Carolina. By using the lottery's online system to pick random numbers, Hodge won a $120,000 jackpot on May 8.

What's interesting: The odds of hitting the jackpot were a staggering 1 in 962,598. Yet, Hodge's gamble paid off big time. "I've always said, 'When it's my time, then it's my time,'" Hodge shared.

The aftermath: Claiming his prize on May 16, Hodge walked away with around $86,109 after taxes. He plans to use the winnings as a downpayment on a new house, according to NCEL News.

This winning ticket is proof that sometimes, it's okay to leave things to chance.
