Truck driver survives electrocution after truck hits power line

A truck driver was successfully rescued after a dramatic incident near Miesville, Minnesota, on Thursday morning.

The situation: Around 9:20 a.m. on May 8, the driver’s semi truck struck a power line close to a grain elevator, causing the vehicle to catch fire. The driver was electrocuted and suffered cardiac arrest.

  • Quick action by Dakota Electric Association workers, who were nearby, led to the power being cut, enabling the trucker to be safely removed from the burning cab.
  • Once removed from the truck, Dakota County Deputies used an AED, successfully reviving the driver.

Rescue efforts: Emergency responders, including the Miesville Fire Department and ambulance crews, were crucial in stabilizing the situation and providing immediate medical care.

The trucker, thankfully, was transported to a hospital in stable condition thanks to the swift response from multiple crews. Firefighters managed to contain the truck fire, preventing damage to nearby structures.
