Truck driver wakes to thieves stealing $22k meat load

Early Sunday morning, July 20, a truck parked along Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia was hit by thieves while the driver slept in the cab.

What happened: Around 3:15 a.m., the driver felt the truck shaking. When he checked, he saw two men stealing boxes of meat from his trailer and moving them to two Nissan vehicles.

  • The robbers took off before police arrived.
  • 40 boxes were taken, but police later found 8 boxes abandoned on the same block.
  • The stolen meat load is worth about $22,000, according to NBC Philadelphia.

The suspects, both men wearing masks, have not been tracked down yet. Police are continuing their investigation and asking anyone with info to come forward.
