Truck driver's close call in Miami fire incident

A truck driver, Winston Stoute, had a narrow escape early Wednesday morning, after waking up to a fire inside his semi-truck cab in Miami.

What happened: Stoute was parked at Northwest 2nd Avenue and 77th Street when he was startled awake by the sound and smell of burning rubber.

  • The Miami Police Department is examining the case as potential arson, with Stoute believing that someone intentionally set a fire under his fuel tank.

Driver's dilemma: The truck, which Stoute refers to as his "livelihood," was destroyed in the blaze. He was able to grab a few items before making a swift exit from the engulfed vehicle.

"Of course, I’m angry at the act, but since I don’t know who did it and why, it’s hard for me to pass judgment," Stoute expressed. "I just have to be positive and keep my prayers but right now my biggest concern is trying to get back on the road," reported NBC Miami.

Next steps: The Miami Police continue their investigation, but no suspects have been identified. Fortunately, Stoute emerged without injury, but the incident has left him uncertain about his family's future.
