Truck driver's son sues towing company over fiery crash

In a fiery crash on May 8th, truck driver Aldo Jenkins was tragically killed in northwest El Paso, Texas. Jenkins was a passenger in a heavy wrecker towing his disabled semi when the wrecker collided with multiple vehicles at the intersection of Loop 375 and N. Desert Boulevard.

The details: The wrecker driver, a 28-year-old man, allegedly failed to brake in time, leading to a pile-up involving 11 other vehicles. The collision caused the wrecker to catch fire, leaving Jenkins trapped inside the cab, where he died.

  • Seven others were injured in the accident, ranging in age from 30 to 55.
  • The crash marked the 22nd traffic-related death in El Paso this year.

Lawsuit filed: Jenkins' son has filed a lawsuit against the towing company, Sheffield Towing Service, and its driver. The suit claims negligence, accusing the driver of speeding and distracted driving.

The lawsuit further alleges that Sheffield Towing Service failed to enforce adequate safety protocols, particularly concerning driver distraction due to electronic devices, reported KFOX14.

Investigations are ongoing, and the outcome of the lawsuit remains to be seen.
